Diana Prince tem em suas mãos a foto que tiraram sua junto a Steve Trevor e seus companheiros em um breve momento de vitória durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial. E é assim, olhando para essa imagem, que Diana, a Mulher-Maravilha, começa a relembrar toda a sua vida, desde seus momentos enquanto criança na ilha de Themyscira, seu treinamento, primeira vez que viu Steve Trevor, seus momentos de luta e diversão, até sua vida no presente momento... 

Surrounded by history, once more Diana took in the smudged faces of heroes long dead, and her own face, unchanged despite the passing of so many years. A century. The image captured more than just an instant in time. It held na elemental kernel of truth: how Wonder Woman came to be. 

Adorei essa novelização. Foi a primeira novel de filmes sobre heróis (quero muito ler a do Pantera Negra) e confesso, pulei pro final logo para saber como a autora descreveria o momento em que Diana vê a morte de Steve. Ponto para a autora que conseguiu mostrar as dúvidas e incredulidade de Diana quando ela descobre que é filha de Zeus. E a cena final com Steve... nota 1.000 pela descrição: 

High above Diana, miles up into the sky, there was a brilliant flash of light. So bright that it penetrated the storm clouds. Then a roll of thunder louder than anything the storm had produced. The fireball winked out, swallowed by the black sky. 

And then there was silence. 

She knew. 

The plane. Steve. 

From her lungs came a scream of such grief and rage that the stars in space trembled. The scream was like a living thing, clawing at the sky. 

She exploded, a half-God bent on vengeance, and in one savage push, she freed herself from the tire tread wrapped around her. Astonished at her display of power, Ares stumbled back. 

Eu me lembro de chorar no cinema nessa cena e agora foi a mesma coisa. A autora não fica a dever em absolutamente nada, toda essa sequência da luta final faz o filme passar na cabeça, mas com mais emoção, porque o livro faz o leitor ficar dentro da cabeça de Diana e de Steve, sentindo as mesmas coisas. Livro muito recomendado.
